Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has introduced a 2027 technology scholarship programme in partnership with TS Academy, offering eligible applicants tuition discounts of up to 100 per cent. However, the requirement to pay an application fee has sparked debate online over how the initiative is presented.

The Don Jazzy Tech Scholarship 2027 is designed to help young Nigerians develop digital and technology skills, with courses ranging from artificial intelligence to software development. According to the programme information, tuition discounts could be worth up to ₦447,000, depending on the course and scholarship awarded.

Courses Available Under the Scholarship

The programme covers several technology and digital career paths, including:

  • Artificial intelligence and automation

  • Cybersecurity and data analytics

  • Software development, including frontend and backend development

  • Data science and DevOps engineering

  • Digital marketing and content creation

  • Product design and product management

  • Project management and virtual assistance

  • Graphics design

TS Academy says most of the courses are suitable for beginners, meaning applicants do not necessarily need previous technology experience to apply.

Beyond tuition assistance, the programme advertises practical training, mentorship, internship opportunities, and job placement support.

It also lists 50 laptops for selected beneficiaries and internet data assistance for up to 500 students. These benefits are not guaranteed for everyone and will depend on applicants’ eligibility, demonstrated needs, and available resources.

Why the Application Fee Has Sparked Debate

Although the scholarship offers substantial tuition discounts, applicants are still expected to pay a reduced application fee if selected.

A report published by Legit.ng on October 29 said the fee requirement had triggered criticism on X, with some users questioning whether the programme should be described as a scholarship when recipients must still make a payment.

The debate centres on the distinction between free tuition and a completely free learning opportunity. The programme covers tuition costs for successful applicants according to their awards, but it does not necessarily cover every expense associated with enrolment.

Supporters, meanwhile, have defended the application fee as a way to encourage serious applicants. The available reports do not establish that the fee requirement has been removed or that every applicant will receive a full tuition waiver.

Prospective students should therefore review the scholarship terms carefully and confirm the exact amount payable before proceeding.

How to Apply for the Don Jazzy Tech Scholarship

Interested Nigerians can apply through the programme’s official website: donjazzy.tsacademyonline.com.

The application process involves the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website: Open the scholarship portal and locate the application option.

  2. Choose a course: Select the technology or digital skills programme you want to study.

  3. Complete the application form: Enter the required personal details and indicate whether you need additional support, such as a laptop or internet data.

  4. Submit your application: The academy will assess applications to determine eligibility for the available scholarships.

  5. Check for updates: Monitor the email address and phone number supplied in your application for notifications.

  6. Complete enrolment if selected: Review your scholarship award, confirm the discounted application fee, and follow the academy’s instructions.

The programme website says applications for the 2027 intake are open, although available slots are limited.

What Applicants Should Know

The scholarship could provide an opportunity for young Nigerians to gain practical skills in fields with growing digital applications. However, the advertised tuition coverage should not be confused with a guarantee that all participation costs will be waived.

Applicants should confirm their individual award, the application fee, and the conditions attached to additional benefits before making any payment.

The central consideration is that up to 100 per cent tuition coverage does not automatically mean zero cost to the student.
