Meta has introduced a reporting tool in Ads Manager that allows advertisers to measure how individual images, videos, and text variations perform within their campaigns, giving businesses more detailed information to guide their advertising decisions.

The new Breakdown tool separates results by creative elements, helping advertisers identify which assets are delivering results instead of relying solely on overall campaign performance.

Advertisers Gain More Detailed Campaign Insights

The feature allows advertisers to review individual media assets and compare different text variations used in their ads.

To access media performance data, advertisers can open Meta Ads Manager, select Breakdown, choose Creative, and then click Media. The resulting report displays performance for uploaded images and videos delivered as individual media.

Text performance can be examined separately by selecting Dynamic creative element in the Breakdown menu and choosing an available text option.

This additional visibility could help businesses make better-informed decisions about which visuals and messages to use in future campaigns, allowing them to refine their creative strategies based on reported results.

Some Ad Formats Are Excluded

Meta's new reporting option comes with restrictions on the information available.

Ads using certain additional display formats, including Show as collection and Show as carousel, will not have those format-specific results included in the media breakdown.

The company also notes that the reporting tool does not cover some custom conversion elements, such as Donate and Subscribe.

Availability may vary, meaning some advertisers might not yet have access to the feature.

More Creative Control as Meta Expands AI Advertising

The update arrives as Meta increasingly encourages advertisers to rely on its artificial intelligence systems to find audiences and optimise campaign delivery.

The company recently introduced options for assigning specific audience-targeting parameters to individual creative elements. At the same time, it has removed certain manual targeting controls, including detailed targeting exclusions, as it seeks to give its AI systems greater freedom to identify suitable audiences.

The latest reporting feature adds another layer to this approach: while Meta's systems handle much of the ad delivery process, advertisers can use more detailed performance data to assess their creative choices.

For businesses running campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, the tool could make it easier to identify stronger-performing images, videos, and copy. However, its value will depend on the data available for each ad and how advertisers use those results to improve subsequent campaigns.
