Many people believe that to succeed as a digital professional, all you need to do is learn a skill. While having a skill is important, it is only one piece of the puzzle.
In my opinion, there are three things you need to succeed in any digital career.
Knowledge
The first thing you need is knowledge.
You must be willing to learn the right information and develop valuable skills. Whether you are a writer, designer, developer, marketer, or virtual assistant, your ability to solve problems depends on what you know.
The more relevant knowledge and expertise you acquire, the more valuable you become to clients and employers.
However, knowledge alone is not enough.
Discipline and Consistency
Many people know what to do but fail to do it consistently.
Success requires discipline. It requires showing up even when you do not feel motivated. It means practicing your skills, applying what you have learned, improving your portfolio, seeking opportunities, and continuously getting better.
Knowledge tells you what to do. Discipline ensures that you actually do it.
Without discipline, even the best training and courses may produce little or no results.
God’s Blessing and Decree
The third factor is the one that is completely outside your control—and it is also by far the most important factor.
As a Muslim, I believe that ultimate success comes from Allah (God). You can learn the right skills, work hard, make smart decisions, and do everything correctly, yet the final outcome remains beyond your control.
Opportunities, timing, connections, unexpected breakthroughs, and many other aspects of life are ultimately in Allah’s hands.
This is why prayer, trust in God, and reliance on Him are important parts of every success journey.
So, What Should You Focus On?
The answer is simple.
Since you cannot control God’s decree, focus on perfecting the things you can control.
Seek the right knowledge. Develop valuable skills. Stay disciplined and consistent in applying what you learn. Put in your best effort every day.
Then, for what lies beyond your control, pray to Allah (God), trust Him, and hope for the best.
Success is often the result of combining these three things: knowledge, discipline, and Allah’s blessing.
Do your part, and leave the rest to Allah (God).
