Experience: Lead level. 5+ years of hands-on experience building and operating Azure infrastructure with Terraform/OpenTofu (including CI/CD-driven deployment with Azure DevOps), plus at least 1 year of relevant leadership experience.
Skills Required:
• Terraform/OpenTofu for Azure infrastructure
• Production experience operating Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including networking, policy and namespace management
• Azure identity (managed identities, SPN/app registrations) and secrets integration (Key Vault, dynamic secrets)
• Configuration as Code with Ansible for VM post-provisioning and golden-image pipelines
• Working knowledge of Azure networking (VNets, private endpoints, NSGs)
• Comfort working AI-assisted with GitHub Copilot as standard practice
• Excellent written and spoken English (B2+ level)
Nice to have: Azure VMware Solution (AVS) private cloud provisioning; familiarity with image hardening and scanning tools and Shared Image Gallery publishing.

Description:
EPAM is hiring a Lead Cloud Engineer for a project delivering a Unified Automation Platform (an Internal Developer Platform). The platform standardizes secure, repeatable infrastructure delivery across Azure and on-premises VMware using templates and golden paths. You will lead Azure automation and AKS operations and strengthen Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code practices.
Your work will include:
• Building Terraform/OpenTofu modules for Azure App Services, Container Apps, Function Apps, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Postgres
• Running the AKS platform day to day (cluster and node-pool provisioning, add-ons, namespace onboarding)
• Setting up identity and secrets integration with Azure Key Vault and OpenBao
• Building Image Factory pipelines for hardened VM and container golden images
• Writing Ansible playbooks for VM post-provisioning
• Supporting Backstage golden-path templates and troubleshooting production issues
