Skills Required:
• Proficiency in Java or another object-oriented language, and willingness to work in a large Java codebase
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms and basic concurrency
• Problem-solving ability and a commitment to writing tested, maintainable code
• Clear communication and teamwork, including surfacing blockers early
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools while validating results through testing and review
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Bonus: Exposure to database internals, query processing, distributed systems or large-scale data processing; familiarity with profiling, memory management or vectorized processing; experience with C++, Apache Arrow, Parquet, Apache Iceberg, Spark, Hadoop or cloud object stores; open-source contributions.

Description:
Dremio is hiring a Software Engineer for its Query Execution team, which builds the runtime that executes analytical queries at scale. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will build, test and support well-scoped improvements to the execution engine.
Your work will include:
• Implementing and maintaining changes to query operators, expression evaluation, scheduling and resource management
• Writing clear, maintainable Java code with unit and integration tests
• Diagnosing query correctness, reliability and performance issues using profiles, logs and telemetry
• Learning runtime fundamentals such as vectorized processing, concurrency, memory usage and disk spilling
• Taking part in design discussions and code reviews
